CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Richardson called the meeting to order at 10:15 a.m.

ATTENDANCE

Councilmembers Present:  7 – Mayor Douglas Richardson; Deputy Mayor Don Anderson; Councilmembers Mary Moss, Mike Brandstetter (excused at 12:05 p.m.), Jason Whalen, Walter Neary and Claudia Thomas.

ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION

Annexation Issues

City Manager Neiditz reported on the annexation issues that led to some discussion on the relationship between Camp Murray annexation and the Camp Murray gate issue.

Parks and Open Space Issues

City Manager Neiditz reported on the Parks and Open Space issues that led to discussion of the Senior Center. 

Deputy Mayor Anderson inquired as to the feasibility of open space at Fleet Creek and the Lakewood Community Center and discussions regarding the building suitability.

City Center Development Issues

City Manager Neiditz reported on the City Center development issues that led to discussion regarding comparison between the City Center and Pacific Highway.  Further discussion ensued regarding traffic routing during construction, parking and the theater.

JBLM Growth Coordination Plan Implementation

Discussion ensued on the Madigan Hospital enhancement grant.

South Sound Military/Community Partnership/Steering Committee/Elected Officials Council

Discussion ensued on the South Sound Military Community Partnership Steering Committee and Elected Officials Council.

Lakewood’s Promise Agreement with Pierce College and Clover Park School District

Councilmember Thomas reported on the history of Lakewood’s Promise.  City Manager Neiditz reviewed a proposed Lakewood’s Promise agreement with Pierce College and Clover Park School District; the proposed staffing of the Lakewood’s Promise program and the Computer Clubhouse; and if the Lakewood’s Promise Board should become a City Advisory Board.    

Clover Park School District Facilities Planning

Discussion ensued on Clover Park School District facilities planning.

Clover Park Technical College Master Planning

Discussion ensued on Clover Park Technical College Master Planning.

Clover Park Technical College McGavick Center

Discussion ensued on the Clover Park Technical College McGavick Center.
