RESOLUTION NO. 1997-29

 

A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City of Lakewood, Washington, designating the color blue as the official color for holiday lights in the commercial districts of the City, and requesting use thereof by businesses in the City

 

 

WHEREAS, the Lakewood business community has traditionally used blue lights as holiday season decorations; and,

WHEREAS, the blue holiday lights have provided a characteristically Lakewood aspect to holiday decorations within the business community of the City; and,

WHEREAS, it would be advantageous and appropriate for the City to recognize the historical significance of the use of blue holiday lights by businesses within the City of Lakewood and to encourage the use thereof by such businesses.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, WASHINGTON HEREBY RESOLVES, as Follows:

Section 1. That blue is the color designated as the official Lakewood color for holiday lights in the commercial districts of the City.

 

Section 2. That businesses within the City of Lakewood are encouraged and requested to utilize blue holiday lights in their holiday decorations.

 

Section 3. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect upon passage and signatures hereon.

 

PASSED by the City Council this 15th day of September, 1997.
