RESOLUTION NO. 2008-23

A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City of Lakewood, Washington, appointing citizen committees to write statements for and against the initiative placed on the ballot for the November 2008 General Election to prohibit ?minicasinos? in the City of Lakewood.

WHEREAS, pursuant to RCW 29.81A.070, it is appropriate for the City Council or City Manager to appoint people to serve on committees to draft statements for and against the prohibition of cardrooms in the City of Lakewood; and,

WHEREAS, it is within the best interest of the voters to have information for and against this initiative so that they can make an informed decision; and,

WHEREAS, the proposal to prohibit cardrooms in the City of Lakewood will be considered with the general 2008 election;

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, WASHINGTON HEREBY RESOLVES, as Follows:

Section 1. APPOINTMENT OF COMMITTEES FOR VOTER PAMPHLET STATEMENTS

That the City Council authorizes the City Manager to appoint the following persons to serve on the committees to draft the statement for and against the ballot proposition:

Statement for:

1. David Anderson, Citizen

2. Mandy Candler, Citizen

3. Glen Graves, Citizen

Statement Against:

1. Linda Smith, Citizen

2. Kyong Suk An, Citizen

3. Brian Wurts, Citizen

Section 3. COPIES FILED WITH THE PIERCE COUNTY AUDITOR.

A copy of this Resolution shall be filed with the Pierce County Auditor?s Office.

Section 4. EFFECTIVE DATE.

That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect upon passage and signatures hereon.

PASSED by the City Council this 11th day of August, 2008.
