RESOLUTION NO. 2006-31
A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City of Lakewood, Washington, declaring the construction of side sewer service connections to be in the public benefit.
WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood is a municipal corporation within Pierce County, Washington; and,
WHEREAS, the Lakewood City Council desires to provide sanitary sewer infrastructure to the neighborhoods of American Lake Gardens and Tillicum to allow for denser development as envisioned in the City of Lakewood?s Comprehensive Plan; and,
WHEREAS, the current septic systems cannot provide adequate wastewater treatment for the higher development densities outlined in the City of Lakewood?s Comprehensive Plan; and,
WHEREAS, the City?s sewer system cannot be operated prior to meeting minimum flows to adequately flush the system; and,
WHEREAS, the minimum flows can be met if adjacent property owners are connected to the sewer via side sewer service connections.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES, as Follows:
Section 1. Declaration of Public Interest. The City of Lakewood City Council has determined that the construction of side sewer service connections on private property will benefit the public by ensuring minimum flows are met to operate the American Lake Gardens / Tillicum sanitary sewer system.
Section 2. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect upon passage and signatures hereon.
